idk :)

OpenStudy (cardboardbox):

Vertical asymptotes occur in a function when the denominator is 0, since this is undefined and we end up with the the graph going to positive or negative infinity.

OpenStudy (cardboardbox):

To find out where your vertical asymptotes are, find what values of x make the denominator 0.

OpenStudy (mattfort3212):

so its 0?

OpenStudy (mattfort3212):

no non no its 4

OpenStudy (cardboardbox):

Not exactly. If I had the function y = 1 / (1-x) I'd have a vertical asymptote when my denominator: 1-x is 0. Solving, i get x = 1. So I know I have a vertical asymptote at x = 1.

OpenStudy (cardboardbox):

Yeah that's right

OpenStudy (cardboardbox):

Good on ya
