Sorry guys but this test if difficult, please help in advance. Point A(–4, 2) is reflected over the line x = 3 to create the point A'. What are the coordinates of A'? A. (–4, –1) B. (–4, 8) C. (–1, 2) D. (10, 2)

OpenStudy (lapinblanc):

D. (10,2) I drew a picture of the first point (-4,2) Then I drew a dotted line at the reflection point x=3. There is no movement up or down because we are only reflected about the x value. So I counted from my point, to my reflection point, 4 units to zero+3 units to the reflection, that is seven units. so it will reflect seven units to the right of that reflection point because reflection results in same image on the other side of the reflection point. This will be 14 units away from starting point: So original x value plus 14: -4+14=10 Since y did not change: (10, 4)

Thank you! :)
