Calculating GPA.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Philosophy: 91.9 Creative Writing B: 86.14 Psychology: 91.63 Creative Writing A: 76.07

OpenStudy (miss.forgetful):

guys yo whitemonsterbunny is the smartest kid of OS.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Not really. x'D

OpenStudy (miss.forgetful):

i got my GPA today as well.

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

do you know the credit/hours for each subject?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah, hold on.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

All are worth .50 credits.

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

wth really?

OpenStudy (miss.forgetful):

lollll

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah. Is that bad? xD

OpenStudy (miss.forgetful):

too less

OpenStudy (miss.forgetful):

should be at least 1 credit course o_o

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Well I only needed 2 credits to graduate.. Psychology was part one and and Philosophy part two, then Creative Writing A and then B.

OpenStudy (miss.forgetful):

oh makes sense..

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Well, unweighted grades are worth: A-4 B-3 C-2 D-1 F-0 Which means, A B A C is worth (4+3+4+2)/4

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

So a 3.25

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Okay, so 3.25 is accurate? I used some GPA calculator I found on Google, and it gave me 3.1

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

I am going to assume that there are no - or + grades such as A- or B+ A = 4.00, B = 3.00, C = 2.00, D = 1.00 Philosophy: 91.9 = A Creative Writing B: 86.14 = B Psychology: 91.63 = A Creative Writing A: 76.07 = C multiply each points by their respective credit/hour value. then divide it by the total credit/hours. 4 x 0.5 = 2.00 3 x 0.5 = 1.50 4 x 0.5 = 2.00 2 x 0.5 = 1.00 6.50/2.00 = 3.25

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

it depends on your school, because some schools use -/+ system which has the potential for higher or lower gpa

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I see. Yeah, my school never really gave me the ABCDF scale, just the percentages.

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

sometimes, instead of using GPA, you can actually use your average by percentile

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

before college, all my grades were numerical with ceiling of 95, meaning no one can get higher than 95, with floor grade at 75 but passing 83. This means if you get 75-82, you end up doing remedial classes. anything lower, you fail and would repeat or be retained in the same level. the extra 5 points are added towards the end depending on your overall - tardiness, behavior, extra curricular activities, etc.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Interesting. So I'd probably have to take a remedial class to take care of Creative Writing A?

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

It just depends on the school. My school only requires you to have a C (70%) to pass I believe.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

That's true. I mean, I passed, I graduated, but I was just wondering what my GPA ended up being.

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

PRETTY MUCH. Before you retake it, make sure that it can be brought up so you're not doing it and it is not really going to change your grade.

OpenStudy (biologicalscience):

The mandatory remedial in my school was to improve student's performance for the next level and it will help them get higher grades.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I see. So if I don't really need Creative Writing/English for the Major I choose, does it matter?

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

http://gpacalculator.net/college-gpa-calculator/

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

^^ Yeah, I used that... It gave me 3.1

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Well, the High School calculator, not the College one.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yay, 3.1 is really good :p

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Is it? I thought that was bad, actually. I had a 3.6 in the past. :P

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Just remember, it's not always that high marks matter, but rather ambition!

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

That's true. :)

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Anyways, thanks everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day/evening! <3
