2) Indirect variation in this context means the same thing as inversely related.

If two variables x and y have an inverse relationship (that is, one is inversely proportional to the other), then as one increases, the other must decrease.  How would you model that with an algebraic equation?  Hint:  in direct proportion, y = kx.
