Question

I realized something as I came across a video on YouTube about bullying and I found something completely interesting and saddening at the same time. At one point there were a few days in the year that was Anti-bullying day or Pink Shirt day. It was originally on May 4th, but is on the 28th of February, or either the 2nd Thursday of September. That was in 2012, today it's been completely forgotten about. I wrote something hoping people realize the importance of stopping bullying and revive the dead anti bullying day even though it has officially passed it can still be anti bullying day any day.

The Affects of Bullying


In the dark of the night
They don't hear her cries
She never tried to put up a fight
In the end she just sighs

She goes to her room
She puts on fake smiles
She's fine they assume
But she wants to run for miles

People say silence is golden
But silence is deadly
Locked up with feelings that olden
And soon begin to sing death's medley

No one liked her
They made sure she knew
Now and forever
And she was through

Long is she gone
Her parents noticed and cared
What she thought wasn't all wrong
Her bullies and students still flared

Many many many poems and stories and lyrics and even songs have been written about bullying, suicidal type thoughts, and self harm. It's a common denominator of our society today, and about 95% of us all hate it and wish for it to go away.
I entirely understand where you are coming from when writing this and to some extent our world needs to hear the affects indeed.
But, there are thousands of ways to write and portray this kind of thing without sounding like every other thing many of us have read. There is a way to add depth to this theme in the way that you shape words and model metaphors so that it comes across as far more powerful and life changing to your readers.
I do not undermine what you are writing about and as a matter of fact I uphold it in every sense possible, but my only suggestion is to work on writing deeper so that your passionate meaning becomes more apparent to everyone else.
