OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Okay, so you know what federalism is, right? :)

OpenStudy (batmaaaanxd):

Yeah, division of subjects??

OpenStudy (batmaaaanxd):

Power is divided between a central authority and the states

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Yep, so, in the beginning stages of the USA, there was only an individual government within each state, and they had trouble starting a collective, national government. While, in the constitution there was no actual mention of a federal government, it spoke of being united as one. There are MANY benefits of having a federalist government in the USA. It keeps the government close to the people while also helping to avoid globalist pressures.
