OpenStudy (blurryface):

While attending a film festival you decide that there are 13 movies that you are interested in seeing. However, you only have time to see 7 movies. In how many different ways can you watch 7 of the 13 movies?

OpenStudy (blurryface):

I did this and got the answer 8,648,640. Am I correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

@Kinged I think you meant to say 13 C 7. The bigger number always comes first

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

https://www.mathsisfun.com/combinatorics/combinations-permutations.html the notation \(\Large C(n,r)\) is probably the best notation for keyboards see attached

OpenStudy (blurryface):

what

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`I did this and got the answer 8,648,640. Am I correct?` order doesn't matter @Blurryface so it is not correct

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you use a combination and not permutation

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Though it does say how many different ways, so maybe order does matter. I'm not so sure now.

OpenStudy (blurryface):

so it must be 4,324,320
