OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

Helen has 48 cubic inches of clay to make a solid right pyramid with a base edge measuring 6 inches. Which is the slant height of the pyramid if Helen uses all the clay? 3 inches 4 inches 5 inches 6 inches

OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

OpenStudy (kinged):

I surmise the base is square.

OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

It looks like a pyramid ?

OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

im sorry yes its a square

OpenStudy (kinged):

Just put Volume(Pyramid)=48 ans solve for h. Use the Pythagorean identity, then.

OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

okay

OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

wait could we do it together?

OpenStudy (kinged):

\[V(Pyramid)=\frac{ lwh }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (samirahdanyel):

so you replace the lwh with 6?

OpenStudy (kinged):

The l and w are the length and width of the base. Since it's a square, these are equal. Just substitute and work out the value of h (Which you don't have).
