First, you do know what "rationalize the denominator" means, right? There is a neat little trick to make this case easy. We have to go back to something you probably learned while factoring: [CORRECTED] Do you remember this formula? \[(a+b)(a−b)=a^2 - b^2\] if you let a=sqrt(x) and b=sqrt(y), see what happens to \[a^2 - b^2\]

so like a first step multiplie top and bottom by sqrt(x) -sqrt(y) so what will get for denominator ?
