Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is GREAT! (Or Little Men if that's more your style). The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is phenomenal. The Secret of Platform 13 by Eva Ibbotson is so fun, all of her work is really. Honestly, delving into the socio-political aspects of The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorn makes for a really interesting time.
