Find the area of the following shape. You must show all work to receive credit.

OpenStudy (phi):

maybe you should paste a screen shot.

OpenStudy (ximer):

how do you screenshot

OpenStudy (ximer):

OpenStudy (phi):

I guess that way ^

OpenStudy (ximer):

lol

OpenStudy (phi):

the idea is break up the shape into triangles where you can figure out the base and the height. then find the area of each triangle (or rectangle if you can make those) then add up all of the areas.

OpenStudy (phi):

For example, put in the line AC. you have a triangle on the left and we can read off its base (AC) and its "height" can you find the base and height of triangle ABC?

OpenStudy (ximer):

um is the base 9

OpenStudy (ximer):

or is that the height

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (phi):

the base will be one of the 3 sides. Side AC is good, because we can count its length to be 9 the height will be the distance from that base "up to" the vertex at point B (i.e. the distance from B "straight" across to the base AC)

OpenStudy (ximer):

ok now how is it that i get the height
