Can anyone PLEASE help me, ASAP? ._. so confused. Sarah has been running a dog-walking business since 2010. She walks dogs twice a day, takes them to the park, and returns them to their homes. Each year, she has increased her fee by the same amount. The table shows what Sarah charged each customer for two given years of her business: B. Write an equation in slope-intercept form to represent the fees that Sarah charges each year.
@jigglypuff314 Do you mind helping me? ^-^
well first we find the slope given the "points" (2010, 350) and (2014, 750) do you know how to do that? :3
Well, I would think the slope would be 100 since the slope is the same thing as an initial value?
not quite! initial value is y-intercept slope is (750 - 350) --------------- (2014 - 2010)
400/4?
ohhh right xD you were right about the 100 then but that's the slope, not initial value :P
Oh okay xD now what's next o.o I always get confused with slope intercept-form but I'm pretty sure it's something like y = mx + b
that's exactly it! I'm honestly not sure what they want you to make the y intercept be... do you think they're want you to plug in numbers based on 'how many years after 2010' or just 'the year is 2020 etc'?
I mean, I was following the rule, and I ended up with "y= $400x + $400, but it looks wrong to me so that's why I wanted to make sure I was actually right..
well it wont be 400 in front of the x the slope of 100 would go there ^_^
So, y = 100x +$400?
how did you get 400? in 2010 she started with 350 right?
Subtracted 350 from 700..
hmm well the b value in y = mx + b b is the initial value which is the value she starts with she started in 2010 and in 2010 she got 350 therefore the initial value should be 350 ^_^
So...y = 100x + $350? O.o
I hope so ^_^"
Alright, just so confused x.x
where are you still confused? :3
With just the whole slope intercept form concept, like y = mx + b, what does m, x, and b, represent?
m = slope x = is years in this case b = initial value
Thank you so much! >w< Learning about all of this slope-intercept form stuff has confused me alot.
I'm glad I could help ^_^ this problem was rather confusing to be honest :)
Agreed, I was stuck on it for about 10 minutes before I asked on here since I wanted that to be my last resort, I don't really like asking for help xD
Well, have a nice weekend ;w;
