OpenStudy (mathguy5):

Can anyone explain how the range of the function can be found? http://prntscr.com/bkpgoa

OpenStudy (photon336):

yeah so the range of a function is a list of all the y values for which the function is defined.

OpenStudy (mathguy5):

The only y value is -2

OpenStudy (photon336):

well yes but not necessarily

OpenStudy (photon336):

the function's lowest y value is -2. if you look at the graph, you can see that it goes on indefinitely

OpenStudy (photon336):

\[range \rightarrow [-2, -\infty)\]
