I'm trying to understand how to build logic expressions with MOSFETs. For example, my book gives the following circuit for outputting NOT(A AND (B OR (NOT C))). (details in the reply section)

My doubt is, why can't I just eliminate one of the MOSFETs and simply do it like this:
