Solve for x
2-1+x=6 I got 430 but I think I did something wrong.
@sammixboo
how'd you get 430?
What is 2 - 1 = ?
I multiplied 2 * 215
Start off my simplifying the equation. 2 - 1 + x = 6 which equals 1 + x = 6
X=5
Are you sure you wrote the equation correctly? Where did you get 215 from? :P
roll you're not supposed to give straight answers
I wanna learn.
yeah ^^^
So we have simplified the problem to 1 + x = 6. Do you know what we do next?
Yeah, thesmartone thats all it asked of me, 2-1+x=6
uh, multiply 2 * 215?
My bad
Not quite. 215 has nothing to do with this equation. You need to SUBTRACT 1 on both sides of the equation, since we are adding 1 in the original. 1 - 1 + x = 6 - 1
oooh, and THEN we multiply by 215, right right. but that still gives me 430 what am I doing wrong.
You do not need to use 215 at all. Where did you get that number from?
There is no 215 in the question so you can't multiply by it.
Oh, I thought it was the most logical thing to do in this situation.
No :) there is no 215 in the original equation, so there is no reason to multiply 215. Now, let's continue where we left off at. We currently have 1 - 1 + x = 6 - 1, which can simplify to x = 6 - 1 What does 6 - 1 equal?
3?
What is 6 - 1?
Oh, 5
Yes. 2 - 1 + x = 6 1 + x = 6 1 - 1 + x = 6 - 1 x = 6 - 1 x = 5
Oh, coulda swore it was 430
So just to be clear we don't multiply 2 * 215?
Yeah you don't. It's againt the CODE OF CONDUCT
LOL
