OpenStudy (debpriya):

Fresh grapes contain 90% water by weight whereas dry grapes contain 20% water by weight. Ram buys 64kgs of fresh grapes for Rs.160.At what price should Ram sell the dry grapes to get a profit of 20%?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

If fresh grapes are 90% water by weight, they are 10% "grape stuff" by weight, right?

OpenStudy (debpriya):

Yes 10% pulp :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

is the price per kg?

OpenStudy (debpriya):

I don't think so . I think 64kgs cost him Rs 160

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

in that case you simply multiply 160 by 1.2 to get 20%profit

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

so if he bought 64 kgs of fresh grapes, and that yields 6.4 kgs of grape pulp, and dry grapes are 20% water (and 80% pulp) by weight, how many kgs of dry grapes will 64 kgs of fresh grapes yield?

OpenStudy (debpriya):

Yes yes
