Parallelogram EFGH has been reflected across the x‐axis and then rotated 180 degrees around the origin. Which of the following transformations would return the parallelogram to its original position? Reflection across the line y=x Reflection across the x‐axis Reflection across the x‐axis and then reflection across the y‐axis Reflection across the y‐axis i think its either A or B most likely B

OpenStudy (michael0412):

The answer is D, a reflection across the y-axis.

OpenStudy (superwholock221):

but it didnt go across the y axis so how?? @Michael0412

OpenStudy (michael0412):

It was rotated 180 degrees around the origin, which is the point (0,0). Say the Parallelogram started in quadrant 1, it would reflect across the x-axis and be in quadrant 4, then you would rotate it half-way across the coordinate plane (180 degrees), so it would then be in quadrant 2, so to get the Parallelogram back to quadrant 1 you would reflect it across the y-axis.

OpenStudy (superwholock221):

ohhhhhh ok thank you
