French Settlers tended to look for fur, trading and catholic mission work because it what attracted them to the US in the first place. Spanish Settlers looked for gold, silver adventure and Catholic mission work, because they were already a huge part of their culture and when they traveled, they'd look for something similar. Massachusetts was HUGELY taking part in forming new religious communities to avoid prosecution from Christianity and Catholicism. Dutch Settlements only really looks primarily for fur trading opportunities. PA offered cheap land, fair government and the religious freedom everyone was seeking out at the time. Roanoke Island was the lost colony. Lost among all of the others that took it's place :)
