OpenStudy (abbycross167):

Question- State the range of y = x2 - 5 My answer- (0,-5)

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

what my teacher said was wrong- "incorrect"

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the x^2 has a minimum value of 0 (x^2 cannot be negative) but with the -5 that makes the minimum value -5

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so the range is [-5,b) - what would b be?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

x^2 could be any number greater than 0.....

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

So the range would be 0 to infinity?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

no look back to my second post +infinity is correct though

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

-5 to infinity? @welshfella

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes

OpenStudy (welshfella):

[ -5, +INF) Note the square bracket - because te range includes -5.

OpenStudy (amruta1202):

-5 to infinity is correct
