OpenStudy (ximstorm):

Which of these shows 8 + 3m rewritten using the commutative property of addition? 8m + 3 8 − 3m 3m − 8 3m + 8

OpenStudy (photon336):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (ximstorm):

D

OpenStudy (photon336):

why?

OpenStudy (ximstorm):

because its the same terms and numbers but just flipped around? right?

OpenStudy (photon336):

yeah that's one reason but what this is really saying is that if we add two numbers together that are both positive the order doesn't matter.

OpenStudy (photon336):

for example 2+3 = 5

OpenStudy (photon336):

If I switch the order and make it 3+2 it's the same exact thing.

OpenStudy (ximstorm):

but I am right?

OpenStudy (photon336):

yes you are right I'm explaining why you're right though
