OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
i have no idea how to do this
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
5x + y = 2
4x + y = 4
subtract them.
The signs change while subtracting.
OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
that didnt help whatsoever just alot of letters and numbers
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
5x + y = 2
4x + y = 4
5x + y = 2
y = 2 - 5x
putting this value of y in 4x + y = 4
4x + y = 4
4x + 2 - 5x = 4
-x+ 2 = 4
-x = 4-2
-x = 2
x = -2
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
now use this value of x to find y

4 more?
OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
OpenStudy (welshfella):
HInt: multiply the first equation by 5
what do you get?

no idea
OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
y cant multiply
OpenStudy (welshfella):
just multiply every term by 4
2x*5 + 5y*5 = -11*5
OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):
Or you could:
Make them equal to Y FIRST:
y=-2/5x-11/5
y=-10/25x-55/25
Simplify
y=-2/5x-11/5
y=-2/5x--11/5
The lines are same so they will be touching the whole time so Infintely many
OpenStudy (welshfella):
5*2x = 10x
- now try the other 2..

fan and medal if you tell me the answer lol
OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
250 lol
OpenStudy (welshfella):
we are not supposed to give you answers but guide you to the result.
OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
exactly ... i suck at this
OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):
We learn here. Not just give out answers. I practically told you the answer already...
Another way is you could simplify the 2nd equation by dividing by 5 you get
2x + 5y = -11
which is the 1st equation. So any point on this equation is a solution. Infinitely Many

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):
yup. How hard is it?
OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):
Solve for one of the equations.
Next, plug it into either X or Y(whichever you solve for)
Then you'll get it:)
OpenStudy (kingogcobraxx):
very hard
