FRACTIONS HELP!! Add and simplify! 1/8 3/8 5/8

OpenStudy (abbles):

Add those three fractions together?

OpenStudy (abbles):

If that is the case, you would get: \[1/8 + 3/8 + 5/8 = ?\] Simply add the numerators (the top numbers).

OpenStudy (abbles):

So add 1, 3 and 5 together and then divide by 8.

OpenStudy (laynalove):

I got 72

OpenStudy (abbles):

Hmm. 1 + 5 + 3 should equal 9 Then divide 9 by 8. You'll end up with a fraction 9/8 That should be fine, or you could simplify it to 1 1/8

OpenStudy (abbles):

You multiplied 9 by 8 :) Should have divided.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Are you supposed to add these three fractions? 1/8, 3/8, and5/8? Or are those the answer choices?

OpenStudy (laynalove):

Omg I can't read! So sorry lol. @TheSmartOne, yes I am supposed to add those three fractions together

OpenStudy (laynalove):

Thank you @Abbles!!

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
