OpenStudy (luisvazque2):

In the first half of a basketball game, a player scored 9 points on free throws and then scored a number of 2-point shots. In the second half, the player scored the same number of 3-point shots as the number of 2-point shots scored in the first half. Which expression represents the total number of points the player scored in the game?

OpenStudy (luisvazque2):

I litteraly do not know what to do

OpenStudy (eriyalovesu):

Did they give you a list of expressions to pick from?

OpenStudy (junhaoz):

In the first half of the game, use x as the constant number of 2 pointers, so the expression is 2x+9, because free throws are 1 point each. The second half, they would score 3x points, because they scored the same amount of 3 pointers and 2 pointers in the first half. The total of them would be 3x+2x+9, or simply 5x+9.
