OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
i did 6 other wuestions got them right eccept for 1 and now im stuck with dis one
OpenStudy (joker):
All you have to do is multiply 9 x 7
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
but what about the 2?

Haha yes you can!
The area of a parallelogram is A = Base x Height.
In that photo, you have the base in two parts. It shows you the left side of it and the right side of it. Don't be confused by one being labelled at the top.
So you'd add 2+9 = 11.
So the entire base is 11.
Now multiply 11 x the height to get the Area
OpenStudy (joker):
It's not necessary
It's just there, because the top base is the same length as the bottom base, which is 9
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
Wait... that's not completely right.
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
so the height is 7 so 11x7
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
Joker is right lol

k
I GOT IT WRONG
OpenStudy (joker):
9 x 7 not 11
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
i went with hashtag and got it wrong ;-;
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
But wait.. 9 x 7 leaves out the left triangle that makes up the rest of the rectangle doesn't it?
OpenStudy (joker):
No it doesn't

OpenStudy (hashtag209):
Nevermind. I see it now.. excuse me. I've been awake for far too long to be doing math lol Joker is right. Don't listen to me
OpenStudy (joker):
All you have to do is multiply base x height
9 x 7 = ?
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
EQUALS 45
OpenStudy (joker):
No.

I'm sorry, Ace. I didn't mean to confuse you. I over-thought it. Simple mistake on my part.
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
its fine dude XD
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
A doghouse is to be built in the shape of a right trapezoid, as shown below. What is the area of the doghouse?
(4 points)
32.5 square feet
40 square feet
187.5 square feet
375 square feet
OpenStudy (joker):
It's alright. People make mistakes. Pretty sure Hashtag learned from his/her mistake. :)

\[\dfrac{b_1+b_2}{2}*h\]
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
simpify it
OpenStudy (joker):
This time, you add 3 + 5 because it's not a parallelogram.
B1 = 5
B2 = 5 + 3
H = 5
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
simplify*
OpenStudy (joker):
\[\dfrac{5+(5+3)}{2}*5\]

OpenStudy (hashtag209):
Joker - why wouldn't you just find the area of the triangle and then the area of the rectangle and then add them together?
OpenStudy (joker):
Add then divide by 2, after that multiply by 5.
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
6x5
OpenStudy (joker):
Just showing the formula of the trapezoid because you don't always get a triangle.

6R1x5
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
True, but if you do it your way and then do it my way, you get two different answers.
OpenStudy (joker):
I get the same answer your way and my way.
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
So you're saying
5+3 = 8
8/2 = 4
4x5=20
Right? Because that's not what I'm getting if I do it my way.
OpenStudy (joker):
No, \[\dfrac{5+(5+3)}{2}*5\]

Ahh gotcha. I misread what you were typing then. Same answer I got. Thanks for clearing that up.
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
Wait so the asnwer is...
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
6x5?
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
No. Follow Jokers math right there. Just compute it.
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
Joker wrote out the problem. Just do the math.

how so 13divided by 2 so its 6 or is it 7
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
13 divided by 2 = 6.5
Then multiply that by 5
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
oh ok thx
32.5
OpenStudy (hashtag209):
There you go!
OpenStudy (acespeedfighter):
thank you ;D
