OpenStudy (princessashley):

The edge of a cube is 4 inches. The area of a cross section perpendicular to one face is (options :8,12,16,24 )square inches, and its perimeter is(options:8,12,16,32) inches.

OpenStudy (princessashley):

help im 74% done with my liberal arts class but the last section i have to do is geometry and i suck at it

OpenStudy (sepeario):

Since the figure is a cube, if you can visualize well you will realise that a cross section perpendicular to any one face is exactly the same as the face itself. That being said, how would you find the area and perimeter of one face, knowing that the side length is 4?

OpenStudy (shamim):

face of a cube is looking like |dw:1467636485347:dw|

OpenStudy (shamim):

|dw:1467636519496:dw|

OpenStudy (shamim):

ABCD is a square. right ?!

OpenStudy (shamim):

AB=BC=CD=AD=4 inches

OpenStudy (shamim):

now area of ABCD square= \[AB ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (shamim):

and perimeter =AB+BC+CD+AD=?

OpenStudy (princessashley):

so the area in 16 and the perimeter is 16? cause ab is 4^2 right and the perimeter is all the sides added togather right

OpenStudy (shamim):

Correct!!!!
