OpenStudy (lillymar27):

How did nationalism motivate Italy's unification

OpenStudy (austinl):

This is a subject that in my opinion is one of the most important parts of history that is doomed to repeat itself in the future. Nationalism is the base that fascism is based on. It sounds much less evil, but it is the idea of racism that has unified the majority, but has caused death and hatred towards the minority. The Italians after World War 1 and being on the loosing side, were able to convince people they were better because of their nationality and race. It's the same story almost of Hitler and the Germans. It gave the people a common ideal and set of beliefs that became a part of their life and understanding of the world.
