OpenStudy (nir1232):

Using the data below, what is the equation for the line of best fit? Remember, put your answer in y = ax + b form and round any decimals to two places.

OpenStudy (nir1232):

Minutes in Game 81 50 75 60 75 80 65 83 80 78 96 94 78 88 85 79 38 87 100 90 80 91 80 73 85 Test Grades 84 45 75 52 72 96 62 82 90 78 96 94 62 100 85 88 25 91 100 99 90 95 80 73 95

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

So what are these numbers? lol

OpenStudy (nir1232):

they are the table

OpenStudy (nir1232):

its the Data

OpenStudy (nir1232):

y= 1.28x - 20.56 I got this but it dosent look right

OpenStudy (nir1232):

Can you round the decimals to 2 places? i am having trouble with that

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Oh you're plugging all of this into a calculator and finding the line of regression?

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Well is y= 1.28x - 20.56 Exactly what you got?

OpenStudy (nir1232):

yes

OpenStudy (nir1232):

but it says its wrong

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Well, rounding 2 decimal places is like saying round to the nearest hundredth, and seeing that you don't have a 3rd decimal place, you are already in rounded form. If it is wrong, Can you tell me which value the minutes of the test grades is the x value and which is the y value?

OpenStudy (nir1232):

minutes in game is the X

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Ok, I'm going to try plugging them into my calculator hold on for a bit? Thanks.

OpenStudy (nir1232):

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Ok so I got the same equation as you. It should be correct.

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Can you make sure that all the data you gave me is correct? You might want to see if you misread or mistyped anything? Maybe it's the system's fault. But I keep getting the same answer as you.

OpenStudy (nir1232):

OpenStudy (nir1232):

the data is right

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Hm. I still abide by my and your answer. :/

OpenStudy (nir1232):

yea

OpenStudy (nir1232):

will you help me with one more question?

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

I can try! Make a new post or thread! :)
