As you can see, it is essentially composed of two different shapes: - A rectangle, and - A right-angled triangle (ABE) |dw:1467902115305:dw| -To find the area of the rectangle, we calculate length x width. -To find the area of the right-angled triangle above it, we caluclate (1/2 base) x (height). Here the base is the length BE (from point B to point E) and the height is the length AE (from A to E). So, the total area of the polygon will be these two values added together. Hope that helps! :)
