OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

hey!

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

so i need help with an assignment :)

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

let me post it,.... i did most of it but i need help with step 5..

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

Step 1–Describe how amendments have affected Americans' participation in government. Give specific examples from the lesson, including amendment names. The amendments have affected citizens rights, like the freedom of speech, assembly, religion, press, and petition (1st amendment). The American citizens’ have also been guaranteed safety and an attorney (5th Amendment), and a “speedy trial”. They are also guaranteed no inhumane death sentences. (Such as stoning versus the electric chair.) Step 2–Brainstorm ideas for an amendment to the Constitution. What change do you think would make a positive difference in the United States? Ask trusted adults and friends for their ideas. Don't worry about complete sentences or spelling in this step. Limit some Presidential war-making powers and expand Congress’s oversight of war-making. (Would prevent unwanted conflict, and leave more choice to elected representatives.) Or Expand the size of the Supreme Court from 9 to 12 to be more representative. (Would be more fair, and provide more sources for different opinions.) Step 3–Choose an amendment idea from your brainstorming activity. Title of Your Amendment: 28th Amendment Write a paragraph to explain what this amendment will do and whom it will benefit. 28th Amendment- This amendment would prohibit some of the President’s war-making powers and then give it to Congress. So, the elected people as a whole choose what is best for the country. It will benefit the public because the people’s elected people are making the choices. For future generations, it would prevent hot-headed presidents from making bad choices. It would give Congressmen more experience with foreign affairs as the US deals with more nations. Step 4–In your own words, explain the process that your amendment will have to follow to become law. First, the idea will have to be presented to Congress. Alternatively, it could be presented at a State convention and get enough signatures on a petition. Then it must be signed by the president. Alternatively, it could then accepted by Congress even if the president has vetoed it once. Step 5-In your own words, explain why this process is difficult to achieve but important to the nation. The amendment process is difficult because ________________________________________________________________________________. However, it is important to have a way to amend the Constitution because _______________________________________________________________. An example of why it is so important is _____________________________________________Step 4–In your own words, explain the process that your amendment will have to follow to become law. First, the idea will have to _______be presented to Congress_________________. Alternatively, it could ________________________________________. Then it must _________________________. Alternatively, it could then ________________________________________.
