You can remember the prefix and the conversion factor that it corresponds to: centi - 0.01 deca - 10 kilo - 1000 milli - 0.001 and so on. It'll be easy to remember conversions if you can commit them to memory.

What I meant was that each prefix states the conversion factor with respect to the SI base unit. For example, 1 centimetre = 0.01 metres 1 decametre = 10 metres and so on.
