any advice for high school english?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

High School English is a wide topic, ranging from Freshman English to Senior English. Do you mind my asking which English you're in?

Honestly, it depends on your teacher and the work you get. For me, English was very easy because I enjoy English and I am good at this, but it can be difficult at times. Just like almost all other types of classes, there are parts in a chapter that you just have to get through. For example, in English I I believe I was learning about poems and there was one lesson about epic poems and that was the worst. I just had to get through it. A lot of times, many students despise the parts in high school English where you have to read what seems to be ancient texts for a chapter or section of the class. For example, a lot of times high schoolers need to be familiar with Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Moby wingspan, Julius Caesar, etc... You can do it,, don't worry, just watch the films/plays before or as you're reading the text. Honestly, to do good in any English course just remember to be familiar with grammar rules and try to have good comprehension. Also, read. You don't have to read just what the course tells you to read, but what you like. You don't have to read books either, if you prefer articles, essays, or even screenplays do it. Also, seek advice from people who have experience. Tutors can help so much. I am very good at English, but I always make mistakes and every time I go to a tutor to proofread my essay, there's always something I did wrong, and that's good because I get to see what I did wrong and also know for next time. Also, get to know the teacher. Something that helps me in rather difficult courses is that I make a sort of relationship with the teacher. After the first class on the first day of school, I introduce myself to make a good impression. I talk after class almost every time we have class, and not just about homework but about similar interests and things I did on the weekend, etc. It helps, especially if you are very close to an A and you need your grade bumped up. :) Hope I helped! Take notes on grammar. Seriously, don't slack on this. You may think you know it but example sentences and definitions of grammar are a must.
