Please help! Prove the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem using similar triangles.
http://www.qc.edu.hk/math/Junior%20Secondary/Converse%20of%20Py%20th.htm read that and tell me if you run into any problems.
I appreciate it, but I'm supposed to prove it using similar triangles, not congruent ones, so I don't think this will work.
do you agree that similar triangles are congruent ?
Well, I guess all congruent triangles are also similar, but not all similar triangles are congruent.. so maybe this will work. I was just thinking they were asking for triangles that are proportional to each other and have congruent angles, but are not the same size.
I just googles your question. These proofs are very old and I think this one was proved in elements (bc).
