OpenStudy (jmkeen):

how do i solve x/8+5x/6=x/10

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Try to get all the terms with x on one side of the equals sign. Then try and solve for x.

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

x/8 + 5x/6 - x/10 = 0 x(1/8 + 5/6 - 1/10) = 0

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Once you get to that point, it doesn't really matter what all the numbers add up to. The only way for it to work is for x to equal 0. Ax = 0 if and only if x = 0 or A = 0.

OpenStudy (jmkeen):

thank you!

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

You're welcome.
