OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

Referring to the figure, find the base area (of the bottom only) of the prism shown.

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

how can i show you guys the image its not letting me copy ad paste

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

OpenStudy (archaists):

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'base', but if you mean the trapezoid shape nearest the bottom I got 20.

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

show me how you did it to get 20 so i can verify

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

And what formula did you use?

OpenStudy (archaists):

I used the formula for area of a trapezoid: Area=(a+b/2)h. What you do is you take a (the smaller base) which is 2 in the image, b (the larger base) which is 8 in the image, and the height, which is 4. plug that in and solve.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

each trapezoid looks like this |dw:1468368604164:dw|

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

alright well thanks appreaciate it

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

ok well if the area is 20 what is the volume?

OpenStudy (archaists):

The volume of the trapezoid would be 158.4 if 4 in the diagram is referring to partial height.

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

did you use v=bh

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

Round to the nearest whole number
