What is the standard deviation of the data set given below? 5, 7, 9, 11, 13
do you know what standard deviation is
Somewhat
tell me what you know
(# - mean)^2 + .......... --------------------- = square root of that < #
of the question
I'll just say it the mean is 5
ok so now we have to find out how far each number is from the mean on the number line
You can't just say the mean is 5 and go with it. You actually have to find the mean to get the correct answer
which is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8
she said she already knows about the mean
the mean is 5
The data set is 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, so we add up all of the numbers together, then divide the sum by the total number of numbers in the set, so (5 + 7 + 9 + 11 + 13)/5 will be our mean/average
No, what is 5 + 7 + 9 + 11 + 13?
wait 45
It's 45, not 25, so that makes our mean 9. @snowflakelove15 are you stil here? When you come back, tell me if you know what to do next
ok so now we have to find out how far each number is from the mean on the number line which would be 4,2,0,2,4 then you would find the mean of that which is 12/5=2.4
so 2.4 is the average deviation
are we just waiting on snowflake
?
2.4 is the MAD - the Mean average deviation - i think!
I already figures it out and answered it earlier thank you though!
