I WILL GIVE YOU A MEDAL AND BECOME A FAN!!! Find the area of this figure
what figure
@thewhovian33 here it is I'm sorry it took me awhile to find it
19550 cm^2
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
@NatalieMagadan1998 I got 21,700 cm
I get something different from both of those answers. Look at the figure and break it down to a rectangle that is 110 X 140, and a Triangle with a base of 70 and a height of 90. Add those two areas and you will have the total area.
if you times 110 * 140 = 15,400 90 * 70 = 6,300 15,400 6,300 21,700
The area for the triangle is not 90 * 70
Use the area of triangle formula.
A= B/2 times Height
Agree that the rectangle is 15,400 square cm.
Disagree with area of triangle..........way off!
Is the area of the triangle 35?
It is a right triangle and I use the 70 cm (180 - 110) portion as the base. The height is 90 (140 - 50). Using the formula A = B/2 * H (1/2 base times the height) we will get: A =35 * 90 = 3,150 sq cm. Now add that value to your rectangle area and you will have the total area of the figure.
What did you come up with as the total area?
Or what is 15,400 + 3,150 ? Remember the units are sq cm.
The key to this problem is resolving the figure into two parts and determining their dimensions, from there it is simple arithmetic.
In my previous post I indicated how I got the 70 and 90
