HELP!

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

@welshfella

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

OpenStudy (mrnood):

well - you are evidently studying the equations for volume you have a sphere of radius 2 you have a cylinder radius 2, height 4 there are 2 simple equations for finding each volume. Subtract the sphere from the cyclinder volume to fimd your answer

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Such an impatient little rookie.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@volleyballlover55 what is the equation for calculating the volume of a sphere?

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

um, i believe its... 4/3*pi*r^3

OpenStudy (mrnood):

good - that is coorect so if r=2 what is the volume?

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

hmm.. im not sure

OpenStudy (mrnood):

why not? you know the equation - and you know r.....

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

oh lol sorry, is it 2^2?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

it tells you to use pi = 3.14

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

im sorry 2^3 i meant..

OpenStudy (mrnood):

yes

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

ok then..

OpenStudy (mrnood):

so if r=2 what is the volume?

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

8

OpenStudy (mrnood):

you wrote the correct equation above 8 is just a part of it

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

ok so what do i do ?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

you wrote V=4/3*pi*r^3 you know that r^3 = 8 so what is the volume?

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

let me solve that.

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

i got 33.4..

OpenStudy (mrnood):

now find the volume of the cylinder r=2 h=4

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

ok so whats the formula?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

I'm sure you have that in your notes. This is what you are studying

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

wait im sorry, is it a new problem i have to solve?

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

or are we still in the same equation

OpenStudy (mrnood):

have you read the question? it asks oyu to find the difference in volume between the cylinder and the sphere you have just calculated the volume of the sphere NOW you need to find the volume of the cylinder.. look up the equation for volume of a cylinder in your text or notes or google THEN calculate the volume when r=2 and h=4

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@volleyballlover55 I am outta here in a few minutes If you want help then write the equation for a volume of a cylinder...
