35x = 1925 - 262.50 35x = 1662.50 x = 1662.50%2F35 x = 47.5 hrs

OpenStudy (theonlymathmagician):

its 47.5 hours.

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

It said its incorrect..

OpenStudy (theonlymathmagician):

Oh well

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

35(x+5) = 1463+462 x+5 is cos he worked 5 hours OT.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

He took home $1463 and paid $462 in taxes. The total salary before taxes was $1463 + $462 = $1925. Divide 1925 by 35 to find how many hours he worked at $35/hour. Then subtract 5 hours of overtime to find the number of regular hours he worked.
