Anyone in Flvs English 1?
What do you need help with?
lesson 3.03 I just have one question that I'm not sure how to answer
Use the following information to answer the question in three to five sentences: The Americans with Disabilities Act claims that “The continuing existence of unfair and unnecessary discrimination and prejudice denies people with disabilities the opportunity to compete on an equal basis.” Why do the authors include Part 3 in this section? How is Part 3 related to the claim? (a) Findings. The Congress finds that (1) some 43,000,000 Americans have one or more physical or mental disabilities, and this number is increasing. (2) historically, society has tended to isolate and segregate individuals with disabilities, and, despite some improvements, such forms of discrimination against individuals with disabilities continue to be a serious and pervasive social problem. (3) discrimination against individuals with disabilities persists in such critical areas as employment, housing, public accommodations, education, transportation, communication, recreation, institutionalization, health services, voting, and access to public services. (4) Census data, national polls, and other studies have documented that people with disabilities, as a group, occupy an inferior status in our society, and are severely disadvantaged socially, vocationally, economically, and educationally. (5) the continuing existence of unfair and unnecessary discrimination and prejudice denies people with disabilities the opportunity to compete on an equal basis.
I'm not in English 1 but I am a student of FLVS so I can try to help you c:
Is this a multiple choice question or an essay question? It seems to be an essay one but I just want to make sure :3
essay question
Well, in Part 2 of the text, it states how society tend to isolate or judge a person with disability and in Part 3 it basically describes the things disability people cannot do like any healthy person does that society make fun of
makes fun of*
Do you need me to explain it better or is it fine? I understood it in my brain but had trouble explaining it in words xD
xD Its fine, This is what I wrote so far: The author includes part 3 in this section to show how people with disabilities are treated different. Part 3 explains how individuals with disabilities cannot do the same things normal people do without being made fun of.
I just need one sentence left
Maybe to make the paragraph more mature, you could say "normal individuals do without getting criticism."
Well, you have to write a conclusion, and in conclusions, the author states his thesis again just differently.
Basically word your thesis differently and maybe start off with something such as "In conclusion" or anything similar to that.
okay
Like this : The author includes part 3 in this section to show how people with disabilities are treated different. Part 3 explains how individuals with disabilities cannot do the same things normal individuals do without getting criticism. In conclusion, section 3 is related to the claim by telling how people with disabilities are denied the same opportunity as others.
