A baker has 5 1/4 pies in her shop. She cut the pies in pieces that are each 1/8 of a whole pie

OpenStudy (rayep12):

How many pieces of pie does she have?

OpenStudy (rayep12):

@mayankdevnani

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

is it |dw:1469473363877:dw|

OpenStudy (rayep12):

yes

OpenStudy (dramaqueen1201):

it would be 5 and 1/4 divided by 8, i think

OpenStudy (dramaqueen1201):

no, divided by 1/8!! sorry

OpenStudy (dramaqueen1201):

5 and 1/4 would be 21/4 and this divided by 1/8 would actually be 21/4 * 8 = 42 can anyone confirm this??

OpenStudy (dramaqueen1201):

in one pie, you'd have 8 pieces so for 5 pieces it's gonna be 40 the 1/4 remaining will be cut in 2 to get 1/8 adding that up, you do get 42

OpenStudy (rayep12):

thx

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

OpenStudy (dramaqueen1201):
