MEDAL AND FAN Which of the following correctly uses absolute value to show the distance between –80 and 15? |–80 – 15| = |–95| = –95 units |–80 + 15| = |–65| = 65 units |–80 – 15| = |–95| = 95 units |–80 + 15| = |–65| = –65 units

@agent0smith @AceSpeedFighter @Jadeishere @sammixboo

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Okay so start by using logic. Will the distance be greater than 80-15 or smaller than this?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Absolute value cannot be negative when solved, so take out any options that have an end result of a negative.

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

@FaiqRaees has got this :)

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

@Jadeishere Yes nice approach. You can start by discarding the senseless options. Distance is a scalar quantity aka doesn't have any direction. Thus appointing a negative sign to distance is senseless. Thus you can cancel out 1st and 4th option

OpenStudy (danielannx3):

so its c?

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Perfect

OpenStudy (danielannx3):

can you help me with another one?

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Sure. But please make a different post for that
