Find the value of x in the figure below.http://cdn.activelms.com/data/042c73b1-ddf5-4fd6-91e7-6c8434228f3d/Geometry%20Images/unit%2012-3%20q7.png

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

This is applying some of the concepts you were just doing. What is the measure of the arc subtended by the angle x along the circle?

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

In other words, how many degrees is the arc created by angle x?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

i don't get how to get it. @luffingsails

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Okay... So, the line going through point O... do you see it? That's a straight line but it is also along the diameter... So that means that the length of the arc on the right side of the circle is 180 degrees. Make sense?

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Half the circle is 180 degrees.

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

yes I see it okay so the straight line on the right and to the end of the right side it =180

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

so the answer is 25

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

lol... bingo... you are way ahead of me. the Arc measures 50 degrees and the angle measure of x is half that.

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

good job.
