OpenStudy (rayep12):

2(3^2+4^2)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

First work out what 3^2 and 4^2 is then add the results finally multiply by 2

OpenStudy (welshfella):

have you come across the mnemonic for order of operations? PEMDAS

OpenStudy (rayep12):

yea i don't understand it in this form

OpenStudy (welshfella):

well P is parentheses - so you work out what is in parentheses first E = exponential - thats the 3^2 and the 4^2 A - next add finally * by 2

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* 2 is done last because its outside the parentheses

OpenStudy (welshfella):

all the operations in the parentheses must be done first

OpenStudy (welshfella):

OK?

OpenStudy (rayep12):

okay
