The map shows the location of the airport and a warehouse in a city. Though not displayed on the map, there is also a factory 104 miles due north of the warehouse. A truck traveled from the warehouse to the airport and then to the factory. What is the total number of miles the truck traveled? 130 169 201 208
@sweetburger
Start by finding the coordinates of each place. For the factory's coordinates "factory 104 miles due north of the warehouse" that means you just add 104 to the y coordinate of the of the warehouse. Then use the distance formula, to find the warehouse-airport distance, and the airport-factory distance.
ok
so would it be 169 or 130 considering √(−78)2+0 and -39, 52 to 39, 52=78 √6084 √6084 √≈78
since 78+78=156
Can't follow your work. Show it clearly, in the same order i gave in my first post.
from the warehouse to the airport the distance is roughly 78 using the distance formula and from the airport to the factory is exactly 78 so what would it be
That isn't clearly showing your work. Start by listing the coordinates.
wait i just redid it i forgot a negative sign
√(−39−39)2+(52−−52)2 −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−− √(−39−39)2+(52+52)2 −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−− √(−78)2+(104)2 −−−−−−−−−−−−− √6084+10816 −−−−−−−−−−− √16900 −−−−− √≈130
