OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

Solve the following system of linear equations giving the solution as a coordinate pair in the form (x,y): y = 6x - 5 y = -2x + 5 I would like to learn how to solve this? Please

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

What formula, or what process do you have to do to solve this?

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

And thank you welshfella

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you can do it in the same way as the previous question the expressions on the right of the = are both equal to y therefore we can say that these expressions are equal to each other so 6x - 5= -2x + 5 solve for x , then to find the value of y plug the value of x into any one of the original equations. yw

OpenStudy (deathslasher99):

So does that mean that x is 1?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

NO that simplifies to 8x = 10 now divide both sides by 8 to get x

OpenStudy (welshfella):

use ur calculator to get 10/8

OpenStudy (welshfella):

thats ur value of x.
