The table below represents a linear function f(x) and the equation represents a function g(x): x f(x) −1 −5 0 −1 1 3 g(x) g(x) = 4x + 3 Part A: Write a sentence to compare the slope of the two functions and show the steps you used to determine the slope of f(x) and g(x). (6 points) Part B: Which function has a greater y-intercept? Justify your answer. (4 points)
@peachesncream8 @TheSmartOne @pooja195 could one of you please help me
You need to use the slope and the point slope formula to find the line for f(x).
er actually you have the y-intercept so just the slope and slope intercept equation.
@Evoker ik but im just still so confused
Ok well for the slope, its (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) or for your case (-1--5)/(0--1) which yield 4/1 or 4 for your slope and your y-intercept is when x=0 or -1. So your line is y=4x-1
* or f(x)=4x-1, finally as they point out they have the same slope, but g(x) has a greater y-intercept
@Evoker ok
@skullpatrol could you help me understand
