Is this correct? slope intercept form

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

answer: m = (7 - 12)/(-2 - 3) m = -5/-5 m = 1 y = mx + b 12 = 1(3) + b 12 = 3 + b 12 - 3 = 3 + b - 3 9 = b b = 9 y = mx + b y = 1x + 9 y = x + 9

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Let's check your answer. We do this by plugging in each ordered pair in for x and y (-2,7) means x = -2 and y = 7 y = x + 9 7 = -2 + 9 7 = 7 ... works (3,12) means x = 3 and y = 12 y = x + 9 12 = 3 + 9 12 = 12 ... works so the answer is confirmed

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

The solution set -----> { ( -2, 7 ) , ( 3 , 12 ) , ... etc } of a linear equation in two variables -----> y = x + 9 is the set of all ordered pairs of numbers -----> { ( -2, 7 ) , ( 3 , 12 ) , ... etc } that make the equation into a true statement ------> 7 = 7 , 12 = 12 , ... etc.

Thanks everyone:)
