Find the measure of angle RKL. 86° 70° 34° 68°

OpenStudy (campayne):

OpenStudy (welshfella):

These external angles add up to 360 degrees ( thats true for all polygons)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so make an equation and solve for x 2x + 3x + 2 + 4x - 18 + 2x + 2 = 360

OpenStudy (campayne):

oh lord that's a lot

OpenStudy (welshfella):

not hard add like terms on left side bring like terms together first 3x + 2x + 2x + 4x -18 + 2 + 2 = 360

OpenStudy (welshfella):

add up all the x terms first

OpenStudy (campayne):

oh man im lost

OpenStudy (welshfella):

if you had 3 bags of apples and 2 bags of apples and 2 bags of apples and 4 baggs of apples - How many bags of apples is that?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Imagine x means a bag of apples

OpenStudy (welshfella):

1 bag + 1 bag = 2 bags x + x = 2x

OpenStudy (welshfella):

all have to do is add 2+2+3+4 and stick an x at the end

OpenStudy (campayne):

oh okay

OpenStudy (welshfella):

easy really for example 3x + 5x = 8x

OpenStudy (campayne):

okay.. so then what does that have to do with my problem?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

well that shows you how to add up the 4 'x' terms

OpenStudy (welshfella):

2x + 2x + 3x + 4x = what?

OpenStudy (campayne):

11x

OpenStudy (welshfella):

right so we have 11x -18 + 2 = 2 = 360 now simplify the numbers -18 + 2 + 2 = what?

OpenStudy (campayne):

umm -14?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

right 11x - 14 = 360 next we need to isolate 11x to do this we ADD 14 to both sides of the equation 11x - 14 + 14 = 360 + 14 -14 + 14 = 0 and 360 + 14 = 374 so we are left with 11x = 374 now you need to divide 374 by 11 this will give you the values of x

OpenStudy (welshfella):

|dw:1469822743472:dw|

OpenStudy (welshfella):

when youve found values of x multiply it by 2 to get the final answer ( because angle RKL = 2x)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

grab ur calculator and work out 374 / 11

OpenStudy (campayne):

thughty foh

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

RKL is my favorite punk band.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

punk!!? ugh!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

34 is correct so angle RKL = 2 * 34 il leave you to work that out

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

It's old punk from the 80/90's They sort of started the "skate rock" punk scene. Their bass player is amazing.
