help!

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

OpenStudy (torialaw192):

I have to say B. base by looking at the problem, each exponent is multiply by 2.

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

really.. i thought d(step 3), was corrcect.. ?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

1 is incorrect

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

step 1?

OpenStudy (torialaw192):

If you look closely at the exponents, you can see they are multiplied by 2.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

and 3

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

the first step 1 is wrong, they multiply by 2 as (a^b)^c=a^bc step three is wrong because we subtract exponents when we divide a^b/a^c=a^b-c

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

ok sooo.. B or D?

OpenStudy (torialaw192):

It's B.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

It asks for the FIRST incorrect step. That is the first step 1, i.e. A)

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

@Torialaw192 it is not B and you said yourself "If you look closely at the exponents, you can see they are multiplied by 2. "

OpenStudy (torialaw192):

@zzr0ck3r Meaning?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

Meaning that it is NOT WRONG that they multiplied by 2

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

OK this question is confusing. The first thing they do wrong in the picture of their work is they add the exponents. So the the answer is C) Sorry super confusing the way they asked it.

OpenStudy (torialaw192):

@zzr0ck3r The question asks *Which is the first incorrect step and why?"

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

right, it is NOT incorrect to multiply each exponent by 2. So that is not the INCORRECT answer. Since it is correct to do that....

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

so D?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

First they multiply exponents by 2 and that is correct They thin add exponents for stuff in the denom and num But then they add the exponents when they divide, and they should have subtracted.

OpenStudy (torialaw192):

Yea, it's D. ^^; my mind is so foggy.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

yes d) I said C but i mean D)

OpenStudy (volleyballlover55):

ok!
