do you know the trigonometric functions ?
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
no, I'm in geometry
jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sin,cos,tan and cot - you dont learned it ?
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
nope, its an online course
jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):
but without these you not can solving it
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
oh
jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):
because you know in this case this angle measure of 30 degrees and to find the y value you can using sin30 = 5/y and than you know that sin30 = 1/2 so you get
1/2 = 5/y cross multiple and will get
y = 10
right ?

so and now than you know the lenght of two sides and bc. this is a right triangle so you can using pythagora"s to find the 3rd unknowed length of side
yes ?
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
so 100+25=x2
jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):
no
bc. than you see the 10 is the length of hypotenuse so what say the pythagora's ?
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
oh so x2+25=100

OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
this is where i always get stuck i get to x2=75 and don't know what to do
jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):
x^2 = 75
x^2 = 3*25
x^2 = 3*5^2
x = sqrt(3*5^2)
x = ?
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
so 15?
OpenStudy (montsechamorro):
wait no
